A message from the Chair

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN CLWB RYGBI TYCROES RUGBY

On behalf of the Committee of Clwb Rygbi Tycroes, we wish to extend a warm and sincere welcome back to the Club, indoors, for the first time in 2021. This pandemic has been horrendous all around the World with devastating consequences for all. However, thanks to the population of Wales adhering to the guidelines and the apparent success of the vaccination programme, the situation, we hope is slowly beginning to improve hence the ability of establishments like our beloved Club to open its doors once more.

We all know that there have been Senedd financial support packages to offset trading losses because of the inability to trade but, there have also been considerable costs incurred in making the Club Covid secure in order to protect customers and prevent the transmission of this horrible disease, some of you will be aware of some of this work during the last easing of restrictions in the summer of 2020. However, thanks to the magnificent work carried out by the Committee, players, loyal, dedicated members and the bar staff, tremendous improvements have been made to refurbish and upgrade the décor and furniture which will hopefully improve the welcoming experience of visiting the Club. When you next visit us, we hope you will agree that those involved in the impressive revamp deserve a “Seren Aur” (Gold Star) a huge thank you. Da iawn pawb, well done.

Whilst the welcome, as said previously, is genuine, warm and sincere, let us be mindful of the fact that coronavirus has not gone away; it is still in the community at large; there are, and will be, variants of the disease whose impact is not clear yet so we must stay vigilant. During our indoor opening last summer, we had some visits from Local Authority Officials tasked with policing/monitoring how premises were adhering to the safety guidelines and we fully satisfied these officers each time. This is something we will continue to try and achieve because the Welsh Government makes it clear that it is the responsibility of businesses to make sure the rules are followed within their premises. The safety and well-being of our staff, volunteers, customers and local community is paramount.

Please help us keep the Club safe thereby keeping ourselves, our families, friends and the community at large safe and as covid free as we can.

The guidance suggests one-way systems as well as floor markings to highlight and direct how people move around the venue.

These include:-

• Using floor markings inside to facilitate compliance with the 2m social distancing requirements outlined above, particularly in the most crowded areas and where queuing is likely.

• Reviewing the layout of the premises to ensure aisles/walkways are as clear as possible to accommodate 2m physical distancing, including the removal of furniture and other fixtures, including displays.

• Considering one-way systems using floor markings and signage to highlight system and direction.

• PPE and barriers between staff and customers.

• You are unlikely to be propping up the bar having a long chat with the bartender under the current rules. The guidance is quite strict on this and includes:

• Erecting physical barriers using flexi-plastic to provide a barrier between staff and staff and customers.

• Staff need to wear a face covering if they were to step outside of the barrier area.

• Requiring face coverings to be worn by staff and customers in parts of the premises that are open to the public (whether on payment or otherwise) and in other parts of the premises where physical distancing cannot be maintained.

• No loud music, dancing or singing

Don't expect to hear tunes booming out of the jukebox. One key piece of advice reads: Loud noises which will require people to raise their voices or shout, and therefore increase aerosol spread, must be avoided. To that end, TV broadcasts, recorded music and any other approved forms of entertainment should be kept at background level, dancing and singing avoided, and live performances should only take place if you can demonstrate that risks can be mitigated.

WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER AND WE WILL BEAT IT TOGETHER.

LET US BE PART OF THE SOLUTION, NOT PART OF THE PROBLEM.

Stay safe everyone. Together we'll #KeepWalesSafe
